And so it begins...
Ok...day one on my new diet has begun. Well, technically it's not the first day...I did start the increased water consumption and the supplements a few days ago (Wednesday 10/5) and between then and Friday (10/7) when I went in for my OFFICIAL starting weigh in, I'd already lost 2 pounds. That's two days, no changes in food and just increased water and I began taking their supplements. Holy cow! So, I began the official, full bore, all out diet today (10/10/11) since I had to go to the store to fill my cabinets and fridge with acceptable foods and I had a big family event to attend on Saturday. (I didn't want to start the diet with a big cheat day!) I took the supplements like I was supposed to, about 30 minutes before I ate my breakfast and then showered and did my hair. I then cooked my relatively modest breakfast of two eggs, a piece of 40 cal toast and an orange Tang-like high protein drink. I didn't expect to be satisfied. Y'all...I'm full. That was 3 hours ago and I'm STILL satisfied! I'm telling you...there's something about those supplements and drinks. No wonder they're required! I prepared my lunch and my mid morning snack last night. My mid morning snack is some low fat cottage cheese and another high protein juice drink and then my lunch...good grief! Do you know how much volume 8 oz of raw veggies is? I get 6 oz of lean protein, an 8oz salad with a homemade dressing (various allowed veggies), a 1/4 of a cantalope and a high protein drink thingy (think I will do the chicken bouillon one). I could not believe how huge this lunch is. Then I get a mid afternoon snack of a protein drink (kiwi-melon is what I'm planning on) with a hard boiled egg and then fish, peas, a protein juice drink and some melba toast for dinner. Oh and another protein drink before bed. They kept saying.."You need to be sure to eat everything!" At first I was like, "I'm sure that won't be a problem." Now I'm starting to think it might! How often do you go on a diet and the first day you're thinking, "How on earth am I going to eat all of this?!" The drinks are yummy, but on top of the drinks I need to drink about 100oz or so of pure, unadulterated water. No sweetener, no lemons, nothing. I've always been a water drinker so that's not a problem. Actually it's been easy for me. So, day one is starting off great. The gals that work at the place that's facilitating my diet are incredibly knowledgable and helpful. I've learned alot just listening. I like that it's a fun, non embarrasing environment. That's so nice! I'll keep you posted!

35 years of ups and downs....
I am 35 years old and I weigh too much. Phew! There, I said it! Actually, I'm not brave enough to say exactly how much I weigh, but it's way too much. I have a thyroid condition (a pretty significant one) and type 2 Diabetes. Those two conditions alone make losing weight an intense uphill battle, but I believe I will lose weight. I just need to find the right program and support system.
I've always been heavyset, but not like I am now. Once the thyroid quit...that was all she wrote. I've tried many diets/programs. I've been on so many I've lost count. Most worked in some way or another, but either my willpower fizzled out or I just found the program to be unsustainable. When it comes right down to it, I have two main struggles when I'm dieting: hunger and seeing progress. I need to be able to consistently lose and NOT BE HUNGRY. If a program can help me with those two things, I'll be home free. I think!
I am hoping to meet with the manager of a local weight loss center this week. If everything works out, I'll get started and begin logging my journey with them here. I'm not going to mention yet who it is in case it doesn't work out, but they are very well respected and I'm really excited! I'll keep you posted!
